International Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics 2022

Between June 13 and June 16, 2022, the second edition of the International Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics (ICoNSoM) was held at the lecture halls of the Santa Chiara Complex of the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning of the University of Sassari, in Alghero – the Catalan pearl of Sardinia.

The international event, which brings together scientists and scholars from all over the world, is sponsored by the International Research Center on Mathematics and Mechanics of Complex Systems (M&MoCS), University of L'Aquila, Italy; the McGill University, Montreal, Canada; the University of Sassari, Italy; and the University of L'Aquila, Italy.

The purpose of the conference was to provide an international opportunity to communicate recent developments in various areas of nonlinear solid mechanics and materials.

The event included plenary sessions with international speakers held at the impressive "Gavino Ballero" Civic Theater in Alghero while the mini-symposia were held at the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning venues in the heart of Alghero's historic center, in a beautifully restored building.

Among the many international high-profile scholars who participated in the conference were as plenary speakers: Professor Saïd Ahzi (University of Strasbourg, France), Professor Gregoire Allaire (Centre de Mathématiques Appliquées École polytechnique), Professor Zdenek Bazant (Northwester University, USA), Professor Maria Farsari (Institute of Electronic Structure and LaserFoundation for Research and Technology-Hellas), Professor Gerhard A. Holzapfel (Graz University of Technology, Austria), Professor Yonggang Huang (Northwestern University, USA) plenary speakers.
