PRIN 2022 PNRR project “A Fluid-Structure Interaction tool for the protection of Clean Energy Production sites (FSI-CEP)”
Dr. Emilio Barchiesi is scientific responsible for the Research Unit at the University of Sassari as part of the PRIN 2022 PNRR project “A Fluid-Structure Interaction tool for the protection of Clean Energy Production sites (FSI-CEP)”.
The project, coordinated by Dr. Andrea Montanino of the University of Naples “Federico II”, will last 24 months.
The theme of the project is the study of the interaction between water and structures built in direct contact with it: assessing the impact of water on structures by quantifying the level of risk to which they are subject and monitoring structures subjected to extreme load conditions, i.e., impulsive mechanical stresses or corrosion effects due to prolonged contact with salt water.
The ultimate goal of the project is to monitor overall structural behavior and predict the evolution of damage and degradation phenomena. The methodological tools envisaged include advanced applications of continuum mechanics, including fluid-structure interaction, fracture mechanics, mechano-diffusion, and other related approaches.
The Research Units are:
- University of Naples “Federico II” - Principal Investigator: Andrea Montanino.
- University of Sassari - Responsible of the R.U.: Emilio Barchiesi.
- University of Cagliari - Responsible of the R.U.: Victor Eremeev.
The members of the Research Unit at the University of Sassari are: Emilio Barchiesi, Emilio Turco, Margherita Solci, Gian Felice Giaccu, and Andrea Causin.
