Congratulations to Jos Chauvel!

Jos Chauvel

Congratulations to Jos Chauvel, who is now a ship structures engineer at EKIUM.

He studied at MOCA - SeaTech École d’Ingénieurs, completing an internship at the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning of the University of Sassari in collaboration with the M&MoCS Centre between May and July 2023 (read the related blogpost).

After completing his internship, Jos shared his thoughts on the experience:

The objective of this three-month internship at M&MoCS was to model a composite using variational principles. The first part of the course involved studying variational principles in order to gain a better understanding of how they work in mathematical models. I then established the link between pantographic/bi-pantographic structures and a fibre mesh composite. The internship then focused on the anisotropic study of the superposition of two bi-pantographic structures. The aim was to observe how the anisotropy of the structure evolves as the angle of overlap between the structures changes.
This internship provided me with an opportunity to experience the world of research. It was a positive experience. It enabled me to work independently on a specific topic and organise my time accordingly.

We are happy for Jos, and we would like to mention that we always encourage undergraduate students interested in our research topics to get in touch.
