ICoNSoM 2026

From June 11 to 18, 2026, the fourth edition of the International Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics (ICoNSoM) was held at the “Santa Chiara” Complex of the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning (DADU) of the University of Sassari, in Alghero – the Catalan pearl of Sardinia.

The international event, which brings together scientists and scholars from all over the world, is sponsored by the International Research Center on Mathematics and Mechanics of Complex Systems (M&MoCS) at the University of L’Aquila (Italy) and the Dynamics and Vibration of Systems and Structures Lab (China), in collaboration with DADU.

The purpose of the conference was to provide an international opportunity to communicate recent developments in various areas of nonlinear solid mechanics and materials.

The event included plenary sessions with international speakers held at the impressive “Gavino Ballero” Civic Theater in Alghero while the mini-symposia were held at the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning venues in the heart of Alghero’s historic center, in a beautifully restored building.

Among the many international high-profile scholars who participated in the conference were as plenary speakers: Professor Farbod Alijani (Technical University of Delft, Netherlands), Professor Yonggang Huang (Northwestern University, USA), Research Director Boris Kolev (ENS Paris-Saclay, France), Emeritus Professor Reuven (Segev Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel), Professor Daniel Balzani (Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany), and Professor Chen Qingyan (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China).

Further information on the conference, the activities taking place and the participants is available on the event’s dedicated page and on the DADU website.
